CEC Clarification on the ‘Strong Armenia with Samvel Karapetyan’ Party
The Central Electoral Commission of Armenia addressed the application from the authorized representative of the ‘Strong Armenia with Samvel Karapetyan’ alliance during a meeting and provided relevant clarifications.
During the session on April 22, the CEC discussed an application from Gohar Meloyan, who sought clarification regarding the name of the alliance created by the party ‘Strong Armenia with Samvel Karapetyan’ and the recent amendments to the Electoral Code.
According to the commission’s clarification, the legislative amendments and changes adopted on April 7, 2026, will be applied during the registration and nomination process for parties and alliances in the upcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for June 7, 2026.
The CEC noted that until April 7, 2026, the commission had not addressed any issues concerning the legal status or naming of any force, as it lacked the authority to do so during that period. At the same time, it has been stated that the commission approved the application for changing the name of the alliance submitted by the same entity. As a result, the alliance’s name will now be ‘Strong Armenia’.
