Court Lifts House Arrest of Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan
The court decided on March 17 to lift the house arrest imposed on Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, the leader of the Aragatsotn Diocese.
It is noteworthy that Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan had been detained since October 16 for two months, after which the detention period was extended for another two months. Later, the detention was replaced with house arrest.
He is accused of violating two articles: obstructing electoral rights using official or service powers, and coercing participation in gatherings using the same powers.
The victims in the same criminal case are Aramayis Takhmazyan (former Taghent of the disbanded Tadeh) and Stepan Asatryan (former Taghent of the disbanded Aram).
