Famous Skier Airlifted to Hospital from Olympic Course
American skiing star Lindsey Vonn experienced a terrifying fall during the downhill race at the Winter Olympics taking place in Italy. The competitions are being held in the cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
The 41-year-old athlete, who had suffered a serious knee ligament injury just weeks ago, nevertheless made it to the start line. However, at the beginning of the course, she lost her balance and fell, unable to get back up on her own.
Following the incident, the competition was temporarily halted. Medical personnel provided assistance immediately on the course, and then Vonn was airlifted to the hospital. Currently, there is no official information regarding the severity of her condition.
Lindsey Vonn is an Olympic champion, having won gold in the downhill event at Vancouver 2010, as well as bronze medals in the super-G at Vancouver 2010 and the downhill at Pyeongchang 2018. It’s worth mentioning that the Winter Olympics will continue from February 6 to 22, during which 116 medals will be contested across 16 sports.
