Evasion of Payments: Public Demand to Strengthen Transport Oversight – Avinyan
During the past week, the ticket validation statistics for public transport in Yerevan were reported as follows: trolleybuses – 92,161, metro – 547,663, buses – 1,872,321, totaling 2,512,145. This information was presented today, December 15, during the regular operational meeting at the Yerevan City Hall.
It was noted that there is a positive difference of 59,034 or 2.4 percent.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan emphasized, “There is a public demand to strengthen oversight in transport. People are writing to me, saying that many, mainly young people, are maliciously evading payment. I expect concrete steps to be taken in this regard. I know that new personnel will be added to the staffing chart in December to organize oversight more effectively,” Avinyan said.
