The Condition of Lawyer Aleksandr Kochubaev's Wife Has Stabilized
The condition of lawyer Aleksandr Kochubaev's wife has stabilized, as reported by his colleague Erik Aleksanyan in an interview with the media.
It is noteworthy that Kochubaev’s wife's health deteriorated after childbirth. Aleksanyan had previously addressed an open letter to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, requesting the removal of the pre-trial detention measure imposed on lawyer Kochubaev. On October 28, the detention was replaced with a prohibition on leaving the country.
“Kochubaev's wife is feeling relatively better,” Aleksanyan stated.
Regarding the case against the lawyer, it is currently undergoing judicial proceedings. “We are waiting for the first court hearing, but the date has not yet been set,” Aleksanyan clarified.
Recall that law enforcement authorities detained lawyer Aleksandr Kochubaev on October 16 at the Shengavit Court. Reports indicate that the reason was his harsh Facebook post featuring a photo of Archbishop Mkrtich.
The Investigative Committee later announced that Kochubaev faced charges under Part 2 of Article 490 of the Criminal Code (disseminating defamatory information about a judge, prosecutor, or investigator, causing harm to the rights and legal interests of these individuals related to their lawful official or professional activities). On October 17, it was revealed that he had been arrested for two months.
