Former Minister's Charges Intensified: ArmLur
The Anti-Corruption Committee will announce the completion of the preliminary investigation into the criminal case against former Minister of Emergency Situations Andranik Piloyan by the end of August. Furthermore, according to the information we have received, the investigative body has brought new charges against Andranik Piloyan, which means that the charges against him have been supplemented and intensified, reports ArmLur.am.
This information was personally confirmed by Andranik Piloyan's lawyer, Tigran Sargsyan, who stated that he cannot comment further until he speaks with Andranik Piloyan.
Recall that on March 31, 2022, the Anti-Corruption Committee announced that charges had been brought against former Minister of Emergency Situations Andranik Piloyan, and that eight other individuals were also defendants in the case, with more than ten persons having the status of suspects.
Specifically, the preliminary investigation revealed that Minister A. Piloyan, with the assistance of his advisor A. H., received a substantial bribe in 2022 for actions undertaken within his authority on behalf of a private company cooperating with the ministry. Additionally, during the preliminary investigation, firearms and military ammunition were found and seized during a search of A. H.'s residence.
It was also discovered that H. E., the head of one of the ministry's departments, using his official position, facilitated the receipt of a substantial bribe in the form of a heating system from the Minister of Emergency Situations in exchange for employing a corresponding individual in the ministry.
