Tragic Car Accident on Yerevan-Meghri Highway Leaves 3 Dead

On August 28, at 17:26, the emergency management center of the Ararat regional rescue department received a call regarding a traffic accident in the administrative area of the Taperekan village, where two vehicles collided and there were casualties.

A firefighting and rescue team from the regional rescue department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the scene. It was found that at the 30th kilometer of the Yerevan-Meghri highway, within the administrative area of Shahumyan village, a collision occurred between a 'Volkswagen' and an 'Opel.' The passenger of the latter died on the spot.

Before the arrival of the rescuers, the passenger of the 'Volkswagen' was extricated from the vehicle by local forces and taken to a medical center, where his death was confirmed.

The rescuers used specialized equipment to extract the driver of the 'Volkswagen' from the vehicle and brought him closer to the ambulance; however, the injured individual died en route to the hospital. The rescuers secured the gas tank valve of the 'Opel' and transferred the passenger's body to a vehicle designated for transporting bodies. The driver was taken to a medical center.
