Mother and Son Injured in Hit-and-Run; Driver Did Not Flee
Today, February 1, a hit-and-run incident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. At approximately 15:00, a resident of Gegharkunik, 39-year-old Nairi K., was driving a Ford Transit with license plate number 35 GD 938 when he struck two residents of the same village, 50-year-old Gayane M. and 24-year-old Harutyun M., on a rural road in Arpunk.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the driver did not flee the scene. He assisted the injured individuals in being transported to the Vardenis Medical Center, after which he reported the incident to the Vardenis police department. An operational group arrived at the scene, led by the head of the juvenile affairs division, Mkrtchyan. Officers from the second police battalion's fourth company, Supervisors H. Sargsyan and V. Matevosyan, also arrived promptly.
The on-site investigation was directed by Senior Investigator Harutyun Margaryan from the same company, who is preparing materials regarding the incident. The driver underwent a sobriety test, which confirmed he was sober. According to G. Shamshyan's reports, the injured parties are mother and son.
