Investigation Concludes Into Obstruction of Campaign by Supporters of 'Strong Armenia'

The investigation by the Lorri regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee regarding the obstruction of the 'Civil Contract' party's campaign by a group of supporters of the 'Strong Armenia' alliance has concluded.

During the investigation, factual evidence was obtained indicating that a group of supporters of the 'Strong Armenia' alliance, upon learning of the location of a pre-announced election campaign organized by the 'Civil Contract' party, aimed to obstruct the campaign and organized efforts that interfered with the normal conduct of the party's pre-election activities.

Specifically, on May 16, a group of supporters blocked the road with vehicles at the beginning of the Norashen settlement, obstructing the normal course of the 'Civil Contract' party's election campaign. Additionally, the same day, at the initial section of Andranik Street in the town of Metsavan, supporters played loud music and used violence against members of the 'Civil Contract' party, further obstructing the campaign.

As part of the criminal proceedings, public criminal charges have been initiated against 13 individuals, as ordered by the supervising prosecutor, for violating Article 211, Part 2, Clause 5 of the Criminal Code (obstructing the conduct of a campaign by a group of individuals in another manner). Measures such as administrative supervision, bail, and prohibition from leaving have been applied against them. The criminal case has been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a request for approval and forwarding to court.

Notice: The accused in the crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code, through a legally binding court ruling.
