Transfer of 16 Million Rubles to Armenia Prevented at Mineralnye Vody Airport
At the Mineralnye Vody airport, customs officials have prevented the illegal transfer of 16 million rubles to Armenia. The cash was attempted to be carried by a 29-year-old Russian citizen. This information was reported by the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation.
The man was stopped in the 'green' corridor during a random inspection. Inspectors discovered five polyethylene packages containing banknotes in his hand luggage, totaling approximately 16 million rubles (equivalent to 220,000 US dollars). The violator explained that the money was intended for purchasing cars in Armenia.
He planned to select the vehicles through an online service and organize their subsequent transport to Russia together with his brother. The citizen also stated that he was unaware of the restrictions imposed on the export of cash from Russia to EAEU countries.
An administrative violation case has been initiated under Article 16.3 of the Administrative Offences Code of the Russian Federation (non-compliance with prohibitions and restrictions). The cash has been seized and placed in the warehouse for physical evidence.
