New Heat Wave in France: Temperatures Expected to Exceed 40 Degrees

In the summer of 2026, France will experience extreme weather conditions again, marking the fifth wave of heat this summer, according to BFMTV. In certain parts of the country, especially in the southern regions, temperatures are expected to reach at least 40 degrees.

The temperature increase will begin on August 11. From the following day, August 12, nearly the entire territory will see temperatures surpassing 30 degrees, except in Brittany, the coastal areas of La Manche, and some southern parts of Aquitaine. On August 13, eastern regions are predicted to see temperatures of up to 40 degrees.

According to France's meteorological service, Paris is expected to experience temperatures of 32 degrees, Lyon 35 degrees, Toulouse 36 degrees, and Montélimar up to 39 degrees. The heat wave is anticipated to persist at least until August 15.

Since the second half of June, extraordinary hot weather has been established across Europe, with temperatures in Western Europe surpassing the 40-degree threshold. On July 9, the "Copernicus" European Earth Observation Service reported that June has become the hottest month in the history of meteorological observations, with an average air temperature of 20.74 degrees near the Earth's surface.

According to the Financial Times, spending by EU countries to combat widespread forest fires in France, Spain, and other European nations has already exceeded 3 billion euros this year.
