Pope Francis Calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan
Pope Francis has called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to continue negotiations for the normalization of relations.
On the occasion of the glorious Resurrection of Christ, the Supreme Pontiff extended his greetings to Catholics in connection with Easter and addressed the faithful with traditional messages, blessing the Urbi et Orbi ('to the City and to the World').
“I call on both sides to engage in negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, so that with the support of the international community, they can continue the dialogue, assist the displaced, respect and preserve places of worship of different religions, and achieve a peace agreement,” said the pontiff.
Earlier, he had also urged Russia and Ukraine to exchange prisoners on the principle of 'all for all,' and encouraged Israelis and Palestinians to establish a ceasefire.
