If We Want to Have Statehood, We Must Dialogue with Neighbors: Papoyan
If we want Armenia to be strengthened and to have statehood, we must engage in dialogue with our neighbors, said Gevorg Papoyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party, in a conversation with journalists.
"The peace treaty is as necessary for Azerbaijan as it is for us. For me, that treaty is about ensuring lasting peace here," he stated.
The lawmaker emphasized that if Armenia declares it is preparing for revenge, it would be a direct path to the country's disappearance. "There will be external forces that will incite such sentiments and such rhetoric in Armenia because these forces do not want Armenia to exist. The policy of pulling chestnuts out of the fire through others is very logical for those forces, but we must not become an instrument in the hands of third countries," he noted.
