Starting next month, Armenia is set to export up to 40 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables weekly to the United Arab Emirates. A Memorandum of Understanding has already been signed between the parties.

This was announced by Armenia's Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, on his Facebook page. On August 27, Papoyan hosted Omar Mohammad Hamdan Abdulaziz Alshamsi, the founder and CEO of the Watermelon Ecosystem platform established in the UAE. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy, Arman Khojoyan.

During the meeting, they discussed expanding the volumes of Armenian product exports, investment projects, as well as establishing connections between Armenian producers and buyers and distributors in the UAE and other international markets. Papoyan presented the investments and production opportunities in Armenia's agricultural sector, emphasizing the importance of access to international markets for small and medium-sized producers.

At the end of the meeting, the signed memorandum aims to organize the long-term and sustainable export of fresh fruits and vegetables from Armenia to the UAE.
