The defenders of Armenia's second president Robert Kocharyan are preparing to appeal his detention decision after receiving the full text of the ruling. This was announced by lawyer Aram Orbelian in a conversation with reporters.

According to him, the defense team has not yet received the complete content of the decision and will assess further legal actions once it is obtained. “It is evident that the decision is problematic,” Orbelian noted, adding that an appeal and other related motions are anticipated.

The lawyer stated that the actions attributed to Kocharyan pertain to government decisions sanctioned by the president over 15 years ago. He emphasized that until 2005, this was a procedure stipulated by the Constitution; government decisions were signed by the Prime Minister and ratified by the President.

Orbelian also insisted that the indictment describes numerous actions of other individuals, while it remains unclear how these are related to Kocharyan's accountability.

Additionally, the lawyer revealed plans to consult with doctors to evaluate the relevant medical documents concerning Kocharyan's health condition.
