The Prosecutor's Office reported on August 25, 2026, that public criminal prosecution against the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, was initiated on August 24, 2026, for abuse of official power (in three instances), receiving bribes in particularly large amounts (in two instances), and money laundering in particularly large amounts (in four instances).

In response to a query from "Lurer", the Prosecutor's Office stated that the statute of limitations for holding Robert Kocharian accountable has not expired.

It is worth mentioning that today, the court approved the application for a preventive measure of detention against Robert Kocharian.
