The contribution of Armenia to the overall budget of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) accounts for only 1% of the total revenues of the five member states. This was stated by Mikhail Agasandyan, Director of the First Department of the CIS Countries at the Russian Foreign Ministry, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to him, the funds allocated by the member states ensure the functioning of the EAEU bodies.

Agasandyan also announced that Armenia is not conducting consultations with its EAEU partners regarding preparations for joining the EU. Earlier, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia might begin preparing an official application to join the European Union in the near future. He added that a referendum is planned to be held on issues concerning joining the EU and exiting the EAEU.

The Russian side has repeatedly stated that there are incompatibilities between EU and EAEU regulations and has warned about potential consequences for Armenia's economy.
