Baku Condemns the 'Provocation' Near Azerbaijan's Embassy in Russia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has condemned the incident that occurred near the Azerbaijan Embassy's guesthouse in Russia and called on the Russian authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation.

According to the Azerbaijani MFA, on the afternoon of August 27, unidentified individuals placed "provocative images" in front of the embassy's guesthouse. The ministry has not ruled out that the incident could have aimed to artificially create tension in Azerbaijani-Russian relations.

Baku has also linked the incident to a recent biased campaign against Azerbaijan, allegedly carried out by several Russian media outlets. The Azerbaijani side has urged the relevant Russian authorities to provide a legal assessment of the incident, conduct a thorough investigation, and take measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

The Azerbaijani MFA also stated that it expects Russia to fully uphold its obligations under the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations by ensuring the safety of the embassy and its staff.
