Azerbaijan Attempts to Delay Peace Process: Armenian Foreign Ministry on Today's Events at the Border
On December 4, a soldier of the Armenian Armed Forces, Gerasim Avetiki Arakelian, sustained fatal gunshot wounds from Azerbaijani sniper fire along the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border in the Vayots Dzor region.
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement regarding this incident. "By carrying out such provocations at the border, as well as continuously rejecting offers from various international actors to continue negotiations, the Azerbaijani side is attempting to delay the peace process and push it into a deadlock. We strongly condemn these actions by Azerbaijan aimed at inciting new escalation and prolonging the peace process," the statement read.
Earlier, the Defense Ministry reported that today at 14:35, Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire on an Armenian position located in the vicinity of Vayots Dzor region’s Bardzruni, resulting in the soldier Gerasim Avetiki Arakelian from the Ministry of Defense's military unit sustaining fatal gunshot injuries.
