Mother See Denies Pashinyan: "Karekin II Has Not Sent Any Delegation to Any Community"
The Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II has not sent any delegation to the communities of Armenia for the purpose of starting a social-political movement. This was stated by Father Yesayi Khanayan, the director of the Information System of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, during a conversation with AuroraNews, responding to the statement made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“It is yet another slander and baseless accusation against the Armenian Church. The Catholicos of All Armenians has not sent any delegation to any community,” said Father Yesayi.
According to him, the Prime Minister is likely referring to the recent visit by the newly appointed leader of the Martuni Diocese, Bishop Ruben Zargaryan, to the community of Tigranashen a few days ago. “The Prime Minister probably means that a few days ago, His Grace Bishop Ruben Zargaryan visited the Tigranashen community for pastoral care of the family of the church servant. Every leader is free to implement their pastoral activities and spiritual services, and there is no need to search for political context in this, let alone to try to draw the Church into political processes,” noted Father Yesayi.
