Trial of Gagik Voskanyan Captured by Azerbaijan Begins
The trial of Gagik Voskanyan, a reserve officer captured by Azerbaijan, has commenced in Baku. According to the Azerbaijani APA news agency, the case of Gagik Voskanyan will be heard today at the Sabunchu district court in the capital, presided over by Judge Abdulla Mamedov of the Ganja Serious Crimes Court.
It is important to recall that on August 16, 2023, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia announced that a participant of a training gathering had left his position voluntarily. Following this, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense reported the arrest of the Armenian serviceman and accused the Armenian Armed Forces of attempting a diversionary incursion in the eastern section of the border.
The Armenian side has appealed to the European Court to apply provisional measures against Azerbaijan in this case of the captured reserve officer.
