Sanctions Must Be Imposed Against Aliyev's Regime, French MEP Says
French MEP Nathalie Loiseau has condemned Europe's "absence" for months while Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh were besieged, left to starvation, and ultimately subjected to an attack by Azerbaijan. She made the statement during a discussion in the European Parliament on the topic of "The Situation in Nagorno-Karabakh After Azerbaijan's Attack and Ongoing Threats to Armenia."
"Of course, the country responsible for ethnic cleansing is Azerbaijan, and it must be held accountable. Sanctions must be imposed against Aliyev's regime. The European mediation has also failed as it has remained neutral," said Loiseau, reminding that remaining neutral in times of injustice means siding with the aggressor.
Loiseau also pointed out that the European Parliament has repeatedly highlighted the threats facing Nagorno-Karabakh, yet no practical steps have been taken to prevent them. The MEP warned about the dangers posed by Azerbaijan and Turkey to Armenia. "We must defend our honor and Armenia," Loiseau concluded.
