Wagner Halts Recruitment of Mercenaries
Telegram channels associated with the Wagner private military company have announced a one-month halt to recruiting mercenaries. According to Korrespondent, the suspension is due to a "temporary non-participation" in the war with Ukraine and the company's relocation to Belarus.
Wagner's founder, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced in March the opening of recruitment centers for mercenaries in 42 cities across Russia. Following the Wagner mutiny against Moscow on June 23 and 24, recruitment points began to be shut down.
Advertising billboards for jobs at Wagner have started to be dismantled from the streets of Russian cities. On the evening of June 24, the Kremlin, through the mediation of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, agreed with Prigozhin that his mercenaries would return to camps, promising that in return, they would not face criminal prosecution, their criminal case would be closed, and Prigozhin himself would relocate to Belarus.
According to unofficial sources, a camp for mercenaries is already being constructed in the Mogilev region of Belarus, located about 200 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. What they will be doing there remains unknown.
