Government Signs Contract Worth 79 Million AMD with Company Owned by Allen Simonian's Brother Without Tender
The government has carried out another significant transaction with "Euroasphalt," a company owned by the brother of National Assembly Speaker Allen Simonian, Karlos Simonian. Mediahub reports on this development.
About 79 million AMD was contracted 23 days ago through an "expenditure procedure" by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure for the renovation of the Ayntap-Mkhchyan-Artashat-Aygevank highway.
It is noteworthy that the construction of this section of the road has already been completed, and it remains unclear why the government allocated such a significant amount from the state budget to Allen Simonian's brother without announcing a tender.
According to the official site of the Ararat Regional Administration, the renovation works on the M-2 republican highway, Ayntap-Mkhchyan-Artashat-Aygevank, were completed back in February, with a contract value of about 1.7 billion AMD. In the tender for the renovation of certain sections of this road, Karlos Simonian's company won against competitors by offering a price that was just 500,000 AMD less.
Authorities need to explain to the public how it was decided to sign a contract worth approximately 79 million AMD with the National Assembly Speaker's brother’s company through an expenditure procedure and why a competitive process was not preferred, as required by law.
