The 14th Dalai Lama has expressed his regret over an incident with a young boy, during which he invited the child to "suck his tongue." Earlier, a video from a temple in India circulated on social media, prompting widespread condemnation of the Tibetan Buddhism leader.

The incident occurred on February 28 in Dharamsala, at the Dalai Lama's residence. The footage shows a boy approaching him and asking for a hug. In response, the religious figure kissed the young devotee on the lips and suggested "suck my tongue."

“His Holiness wishes to apologize to the boy and his family, as well as to his many friends around the world, for the hurt his words may have caused,” the press office of the 14th Dalai Lama stated. This was reported by life.ru.

It is noteworthy that the Dalai Lama is 87 years old and is a Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
