Stoltenberg Addresses NATO Disintegration Rumors

Despite differing positions on tank supplies to Ukraine, there is no danger of NATO disintegration. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with Welt. According to him, there has been an "unprecedented level of unity" within NATO since the onset of the Ukrainian conflict.

Stoltenberg welcomed the willingness of various NATO countries to supply tanks to Ukraine as quickly as possible. "My message is that allies need to supply more weapons. This is very necessary. And I welcome any announcements by allies regarding the supply of combat tanks," he said.

At the same time, the NATO Secretary General expressed understanding of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's cautious stance. He noted that a decision was made at the conference in Ramstein to supply a significant amount of heavy weaponry to Kyiv. "Of course, at this moment the main focus is on tanks, but sometimes some time is also needed for confidential consultations with allies," Stoltenberg said.

He highlighted that Germany is one of the allies that has provided significant amounts of military equipment to Ukraine.

Recently, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was awarded an honorary prize for his services to the Ukrainian people and for the promotion and strengthening of Ukraine as a democratic and law-abiding state.

Today, Stoltenberg will meet with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in Berlin for discussions regarding tank supplies to Ukraine.

Earlier, the New York Times reported that the Russo-Ukrainian conflict has affected the cohesion of NATO member states. According to journalists, a divide has occurred in the North Atlantic Alliance over the issue of supplying weapons to Kyiv.
