Gold Relic with Precious Stones Stolen from New York Church
In New York, approximately $2 million worth of gold relics have been stolen from the St. Augustine Church, reported the city police. The agency is asking the public for assistance in gathering information regarding the theft.
The police received a report that between 6:30 PM on May 26 and 4:00 PM on May 28, the altar of the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, located at 116 Sixth Avenue, was broken into. A gold altar made of 18-carat pure gold and adorned with precious stones was seized, according to a statement from the police department to РИА Новости.
Additionally, the assailants damaged an angel statue, decapitating it in the process.
