1,794 Criminal Cases of Domestic Violence Investigated by the Investigative Committee in the First Half of 2026

During the first half of 2026, a total of 1,794 criminal cases related to domestic violence were processed by the Investigative Committee (compared to 1,482 cases in 2025). Of these, 712 cases were carried over from 2025, while 1,082 were initiated in 2026.

Out of the 204 criminal cases sent to court, involving 213 individuals, there was one case of murder, one case of attempted murder, one case of driving someone to suicide, two cases of causing serious bodily injury, six cases causing moderate bodily injury, and eighteen cases of causing minor bodily injury. Additionally, one case pertained to kidnapping, two cases involved unlawful deprivation of liberty, eleven cases related to psychological influence, 124 cases were about physical influence, eight cases were against sexual freedom, two cases obstructed visitation between a parent or close relative and a child, one case concerned neglecting or improperly fulfilling parenting duties, and one case addressed avoidance of alimony payments.

Of the individuals accused in the referred cases, 150 were spouses, 20 were partners, 15 were parents, grandparents, or relatives, 5 were siblings, 16 were children or grandchildren, 1 was a brother or sister-in-law, and 6 were sons-in-law or daughters-in-law.

Among the 213 victims in these cases, 13 were under the age of 12, 3 were aged 13-14, 5 were aged 15-18, and 192 were above 18 years of age.
