Emmanuel Macron has appointed Élisabeth Borne as France's new Prime Minister and assigned her the task of forming a government. French media highlighted that Borne becomes the second woman in French history to hold the position of head of government. The first was Édith Cresson, who served from 1991 to 1992.
The 61-year-old Borne has been the head of the French Ministry of Labor since July 2020, and before that, she held positions as Minister of Environment, Transport, and Housing.
