Upcoming Meeting of Border Commissions between Armenia and Azerbaijan Expected: Charles Michel

A trilateral meeting was held in Brussels between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, European Council President Charles Michel, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

The Armenian government's press office reports that agreements were reached regarding the further progression of works aimed at the opening of regional communications, the demarcation of borders, and the initiation of security commission activities.

Topics of discussion also included preparations for the negotiation processes to regulate relations between the two countries, humanitarian issues, and matters related to the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

It was agreed to continue trilateral meetings, with plans for a similar meeting to be held in July or August.

Following the trilateral meeting, European Council President Charles Michel announced that the parties agreed to continue negotiations regarding the peace treaty. This process will be led in the coming weeks by the working groups headed by the foreign ministers of the two countries.

In this context, Michel emphasized the importance of discussing the security and rights of the population of Artsakh during the process. According to Charles Michel, the first joint meeting of the border commissions between Armenia and Azerbaijan is expected in the coming days.
