Akar and Shoigu Discuss the Russia-Ukraine Conflict
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has had a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoigu. According to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, the two discussed the situation in Ukraine. Ermenihaber.am reports on this.
Akar emphasized the importance of an immediate ceasefire to facilitate a diplomatic resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and highlighted the urgent need to safely evacuate civilians, particularly from Mariupol, either by land or sea.
During the conversation with Shoigu, Akar reiterated that Turkey is committed to providing all types of support regarding humanitarian aid. Moreover, he stressed that Turkey will continue to do everything possible to establish peace in the region, as has been the case in the past.
