Russian-Ukrainian Talks Begin in Istanbul

He expressed hope that these talks would contribute to a personal meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine and stated that Turkey is ready to host such a meeting within its territory.

Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey is "deeply concerned" about the situation surrounding Ukraine and has called for a ceasefire. The agreement to hold negotiations in Istanbul was reached during a phone conversation between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Interfax reported.
