Alen Simonian Comments on Grigoryan's Resignation from Secretary of the Security Council
The new Secretary of Armenia's Security Council, Alen Simonian, stated in an interview with 24news.am that he does not consider it appropriate to evaluate the circumstances surrounding Armen Grigoryan's departure from his post, while also emphasizing his expectation that Grigoryan will return to public service.
In response to the question of whether it was right to notify Grigoryan of his dismissal at the last moment, Simonian refrained from making any judgments about the incident. “I cannot give such assessments and do not believe it is appropriate to comment on whether it was right or wrong. It is work,” he said.
Simonian also urged not to draw conclusions about Grigoryan's political future. According to him, it is not possible to directly draw parallels between the current situation and previous cases of changes among high-ranking officials. “Armen is our friend. I am confident that he will return in another capacity after some time, and I really want that,” said the new Secretary of the Security Council.
He also noted that Grigoryan has not left the political and state life. “I am sure that Armen has not gone anywhere. There is no need to rejoice for anyone and make conclusions based on personal standards. Later, they find themselves in front of a broken trough,” Simonian added.
Speaking about his priorities as Secretary of the Security Council, Simonian stated that he intends to continue working on developing relations with neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan and Turkey. “I have said that I will be open, but there are things I cannot publicly talk about yet. Naturally, our cooperation with all neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan and Turkey, will continue. Work in these directions will continue, and I believe we will see it in the near future,” he said.
