Prices Will Continue to Rise: Lukashenko Predicts Inflation
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko believes that in light of the events in Ukraine, it is more important than ever to successfully carry out the sowing, as grain has practically become the new gold or oil today, reports TASS.
“This year in Belarus, the sowing is more important than ever. We are conducting it against the backdrop of intense conflict along our southern borders, as well as significant sanctions pressure on our main ally, Russia, and our key market, in the context of unprecedented price hikes for hydrocarbons, fertilizers, and food products,” said the Belarusian president during a meeting on the preparation for spring fieldwork.
According to him, “grain today is practically new gold or oil.”
“It may even be more expensive. And since one of the world’s main suppliers, Ukraine, is unlikely to fully carry out sowing, prices will continue to rise,” Lukashenko added.
