920 Cases of Car Parts Theft Discovered; Penalties to be Strengthened
In the first six months of 2026, a total of 920 cases of car parts theft have been uncovered in Armenia. This was announced by Kamo Tsutsulyan, the temporary acting head of the police at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to Tsutsulyan, this figure is 462 cases less compared to the same period last year. In some instances, the thefts were carried out not only from the exterior of vehicles but also from their interiors.
The official noted that law enforcement agencies have identified and neutralized 42 criminal groups, 18 of which were engaged in the theft of car parts and license plates.
Furthermore, the acting head of the police announced that legislative amendments are planned to be developed shortly to strengthen penalties for theft from vehicles.
