Executives of Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter to Testify in Senate
The executives of Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter are set to testify in Senate hearings before the Judiciary Subcommittee regarding algorithms and the amplification of social media, reports The Hill.
The hearing will feature Monica Bickert, Vice President of Content Policy at Facebook; Alexandra Veitch, Director of Government and Public Policy for North America and Emerging Markets at YouTube; and Lauren Culbertson, Head of U.S. Public Policy at Twitter.
The Senate Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology, and the Law will examine the impact of social media platforms. U.S. lawmakers have increasingly been pressing these platforms concerning their algorithms and content moderation methods, particularly Democrats who have expressed concerns that these platforms are contributing to the spread of extremist content.
