Mars Ticket Estimated Cost Ranges from $100,000 to $500,000 with Risk of Fatality, Elon Musk
SpaceX's leader does not believe that the first colonizers of Mars will be primarily the wealthy who choose to leave Earth, as frontrunners will face real dangers, including the risk of death. This was discussed by Elon Musk in an interview with Peter Diamandis, director of the Xprize Foundation, as reported by Hightech +.
Musk noted that the estimated cost of a ticket to Mars may not exceed $500,000 and could even be less than $100,000. According to him, any resident of a developed economy will be able to sell their home on Earth and use those funds for space travel.
He stated that a flight to the Red Planet, despite existing concerns, will not serve as an escape route for the wealthy. “Certainly, some individuals will perish at the beginning of Mars' conquest due to the risks associated with venturing into new frontiers,” Musk speculated.
