A 48-year-old man, Rhys Hibbert, had an 11 mm benign tumor removed from his brain in Great Britain, which was pressing on his optic nerves and could have led to vision loss.

During the surgery, artificial intelligence analyzed the endoscopy footage in real-time, tracked surgical instruments, and indicated the potential locations of hidden vessels and nerves, assisting doctors in choosing a safer route. However, all decisions were made by the surgeon; AI played only a supportive role.

After the operation, the man’s vision significantly improved. Now specialists are preparing for broader trials of the system, aiming to create a sort of 'ChatGPT for Surgeons' in the future.
