The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia has presented the main state support programs related to childbirth, addressing the six most frequently asked questions by citizens.

1. What support can a family receive upon the birth of a child?

Upon the birth of a child, the state provides:
- maternity benefit,
- one-time birth allowance,
- childcare allowance for children under 2 years old,
- a monthly payment of 50,000 drams for the third and subsequent children,
- support for the repayment of mortgage loans upon the birth of a child.

2. Can a non-working citizen receive maternity benefit?

Yes. Both working and non-working citizens have the right to receive maternity benefits. For non-working individuals, the amount is 172,698 drams. For working individuals, it is calculated based on the average monthly salary. There is no need to submit a separate application or document to receive the benefit. After the 210th day of pregnancy, it is necessary to visit a medical institution to open a disability sheet and indicate the preferred bank.

3. How much will the one-time birth allowance be?

For children born after September 1, 2026, the one-time birth allowance will be 500,000 drams, regardless of the child's order of birth. Applications can be made online via e-social.am or at any territorial center of the Unified Social Service.

4. How much is the childcare allowance for children under 2 years old?

The monthly amount of the allowance varies depending on the parent's status:
- Parent not on childcare leave: 31,600 drams
- Parent on childcare leave: 37,500 drams
- Parent from a rural area on childcare leave: 69,100 drams
A rural parent can receive a monthly amount of 69,100 drams until the child turns 2 years old if they have been continuously registered in a rural area for at least one year and the child is also registered there at the time of application. Applications can be submitted after the child is 70 days old via e-social.am or at the territorial center of the Unified Social Service.

5. How much is the 50,000 drams benefit for the third child?

The 50,000 drams provided upon the birth of a third and subsequent children is paid monthly until the child turns 6 years old. Applications can also be submitted online or at the territorial center of the Unified Social Service.

6. Can the state help with mortgage repayment upon the birth of a child?

Yes. Under the state housing support program for families with children, families can receive one-time support directed towards the repayment of the principal amount of the mortgage loan. The amount of support is:
- For the first or second child: up to 500,000 drams
- For the third and subsequent children: up to 2 million drams
To benefit from the support, an application must be submitted to the bank or credit organization that provided the loan before the child turns 1 year old.

Thus, state support for families with children includes both one-time payments provided at birth and monthly benefits, as well as support for mortgage repayment.
