Trump Speaks with Lebanese President: Axios
U.S. President Donald Trump has had a phone conversation with Lebanese President Michel Aoun, reports Barak Ravid from Axios, citing anonymous officials. Previously, Trump announced a forthcoming 'historic phone call' to take place between Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
'It has been a long time since the leaders of the two countries have spoken—about 34 years. It will happen tomorrow,' the U.S. President wrote the day before.
However, today, in a conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Aoun refused to negotiate with Netanyahu, as reported by the Ynet portal, referencing the Lebanese LBCI portal.
According to RIA Novosti, the office of the Lebanese President has stated that Trump has confirmed his support for a swift cessation of hostilities.
