Iran Tightens Navigation Conditions in the Strait of Hormuz
The Iranian armed forces have announced new conditions and potential restrictions for the passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a statement from the Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces, the security of ports in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman is interconnected. The Iranian side asserts that the protection of regional infrastructure and navigation must be universal; otherwise, no port will have security guarantees.
Tehran also clarified the principles of maritime transport movement in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the published position, the entry and transit of vessels associated with 'opposing parties' through the strait is prohibited and will not be permitted in the future. This is viewed as another step towards tightening control over this strategic waterway.
However, the passage for vessels belonging to other states will remain open, albeit with certain reservations. Their movement will only be possible under strict adherence to the rules and procedures set by the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
