Arthur Alexanderian Takes a Break
Olympic champion and multiple medalist Arthur Alexanderian is temporarily halting his competitive activities. The Armenian wrestler, a two-time silver and bronze medalist, four-time world champion, and seven-time European champion, will not participate in upcoming competitions, including the forthcoming European Championship.
This information was confirmed by Armen Babayan, head coach of the Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team. “We officially announce that Arthur Alexanderian will, at this moment, be missing only the European Championship as he is recovering from an injury. Arthur still has more to say on the mat,” the statement reads.
According to Babayan, Alexanderian continues his treatment process, and world U-23 champion Hayk Khloyan will replace him in the 97 kg weight category.
