Europe Must Consider Future Coexistence with Russia: Macron
The European Union needs to thoroughly review its current security doctrine. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Munich Security Conference.
According to him, the current model was developed during the Cold War and no longer reflects the reality. Macron emphasized the necessity for long-term strategic thinking.
He pointed out the importance of developing capabilities for 'long-range military strikes.' The President also announced that France is exploring the possibility of integrating its nuclear deterrent into the EU's security architecture. He stated that discussions on this issue have already begun with several European leaders.
'Now is the time for a strong Europe. Europe must learn to be a geopolitical power. This was not part of our DNA,' Macron said.
The French President declared that the end of the war in Ukraine will not lead to a change in Moscow's policies. In his opinion, Europe must consider future coexistence with Russia.
