Crime Rate Decreases in Armenia
In Armenia, the number of reported crimes in 2025 has decreased by 3.2 percent compared to the previous year, according to a statement made by Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan during a press conference.
“This figure indicates the level of internal security as well as the effectiveness of decisions made in the realm of internal affairs,” Sargsyan stated.
The Minister also noted that in 2025, 42.2 percent more firearms and ammunition have been seized compared to 2024.
“Referring to crimes committed with the use of firearms and the illegal trafficking of weapons and ammunition, I must mention that while the number of crimes committed with firearms has increased by 24 cases, so too have the instances of their resolution. In total, 115 individuals have been arrested on suspicion of illegal possession and carrying of firearms,” Arpine Sargsyan added.
The cases of illegal drug trafficking have increased by 614 or 20.4 percent in 2025, with 243 more cases solved compared to 2024. “Law enforcement agencies have seized 768 kg of various types of drugs, which is an 80 percent increase from the previous year's figures,” the Minister concluded.
