Ukrainian Skeletonist Disqualified Over Helmet Controversy
The International Olympic Committee has disqualified Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladislav Geraskevich for wearing a banned helmet. The athlete's disqualification is related to his use of a helmet deemed inappropriate for the Olympic Games.
Earlier, during the last trial runs before the competition, he wore a helmet featuring images of athletes who lost their lives during military operations in Ukraine. The Olympic Charter states that "any political, religious, or racial propaganda is prohibited in Olympic venues and at any event related to the Games."
