The Church is Trying to Position Itself within the State: Pashinyan

The church cannot be a state within the state. Unfortunately, we have seen manifestations where the church is trying to position itself not only as a state within the state but also as a foreign state within the state. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

"The church should not engage in politics. We have information that, including through the formats of the Armenian Apostolic Church, shadow funds are entering Armenia for political purposes," he said.

Pashinyan noted that political propaganda should not be conducted during church services. Referring to the visit of the U.S. Vice President, he said, "We received the results we expected from the visit of the U.S. Vice President. The atmosphere of the visit was even more positive than expected. I am pleased to note that it had a positive perception among the public. This is an important and expressive manifestation of our balancing and balanced foreign policy."
