Clarification from the Armenian Foreign Ministry Regarding Lavrov's Absence from Tsitsernakaberd Visit
Reports have circulated on social media that, at the initiative of the Armenian side, the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to Armenia has been modified to exclude a visit to Tsitsernakaberd. This was confirmed to Armenpress by Ani Badalyan, the spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry, who denied the claim.
“During the preparation of the itinerary for the working visit of the Russian Foreign Minister, the Russian side informed that Minister Lavrov will visit the Victory Park due to the anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, and a wreath will be sent to Tsitsernakaberd on behalf of the Russian Foreign Minister. In the case of working visits, the inclusion of such components in the program is carried out at the initiative of the visiting side. The Armenian side has ensured all necessary ceremonial and preparatory work for these components of the visit program,” stated the spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
