We Remember the Lessons of World War II: Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a speech during the military parade held in Red Square in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day.
“We are committed to the memory of these historic and victorious events. As the heirs of a victorious people, we celebrate May 9 as one of the most important holidays for our country, our people, each family, and citizen,” he stated.
Putin emphasized that Russia remembers the lessons of World War II and will never accept attempts to distort its events, justify the murderers, or malign the true victors.
According to him, it is Russia's duty to defend the honor of the soldiers and commanders of the Red Army, as well as the great feat accomplished by representatives of various nationalities.
“Russia will always be an unwavering bulwark against Nazism and will fight against the atrocities of its followers, combating these aggressive and destructive ideologies,” he added.
