Putin Addresses Reports of Possible Escalation in Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed reports of possible escalation in Russia during the Eastern Economic Forum. He characterized the information surrounding potential escalation as an "information attack" aimed at disrupting the upcoming State Duma elections.
"Today, there is no scenario that would require escalation. It is simply a fabricated informational operation," Putin stated, adding that Russians are voluntarily participating in the "special military operation" by signing contracts with the Ministry of Defense.
According to the leader, the armed forces currently face "no issues" in recruiting new servicemen for the front lines, in contrast to Ukraine, whose armed forces, as Putin claims, are decreasing in numbers. "Every month, there are 8,000 to 12,000 fewer people," Putin said.
