Video: Seyran Ohanyan's Wife Denies Charges, Lawyer Provides Details
The charges against Ruza Khachatryan, the wife of former MP Seyran Ohanyan, relate to the inaccurate declaration of assets. According to the indictment, she failed to include required properties in her declarations and organized the process to sell properties that were not subject to alienation by court decision.
Defense attorney Haik Alumyanz stated in a conversation with reporters near the courthouse on September 3 that the claims have no basis in reality. He added that Ruza Khachatryan does not acknowledge her guilt and has numerous arguments that will be presented.
The lawyer mentioned that they did not file a motion to conduct the court session behind closed doors, but requested that the proceedings not be filmed, as the defendant does not wish her image to circulate online.
Today, the preliminary hearings concluded, and the court has moved on to the main phase. The session was adjourned and will continue on September 7 at 12:30 PM. The court has allowed three defendants to be absent from the hearings, except for cases where their presence is deemed necessary.
In response to questions regarding political persecution, Alumyanz stated that when the time comes, Ruza Khachatryan herself will comment on it.
